About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to assist Waikato in improving our achievement against the Faster Cancer Treatment (FCT) health targets. We are seeking two enthusiastic and motivated individuals who have a health background, excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and within a team. You will support the Regional Cancer Coordinator to identify and monitor patient pathways to ensure patients receive treatment in a timely manner.

The successful candidates will work closely with the oncology clinical nurse specialists (CNSs) across all tumour streams and the FCT multi-disciplinary meeting (MDM) registered nurses (RN).


About the Team

The FCT team are part of the Cancer and Chronic Conditions directorate. We work closely with other directorates to accurately report on the cancer targets.


About you

  • Medical terminology knowledge (essential)
  • Strong written, reporting and verbal communication skills (essential)
  • Worked within the NZ hospital system and understanding of hospital systems and processes (desired)
  • Demonstrate knowledge of data entry, interpreting and managing data (desired)
  • Knowledge of cancer waiting times and standards (desired)
  • An understanding of Microsoft Office tools (desired)
  • Tertiary qualification (desired)
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
  • Experience in upholding Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
