Job Description Summary

The MES, Inc. Rescue Tool Service Technician is responsible for periodic service calls at Fire Departments. They conduct preventative maintenance services, repairs, and hydraulic testing on rescue tools used by emergency personnel. The technician ensures these tools, vital in extrication and rescue operations, are in optimal working condition to support emergency responders during critical situations. This role will service CA, CO, NV, WA, OR, UT, and MT. The idea candidate will reside in the Northern California.

Roles and Responsibilities

Inspect and Test Equipment:

  • Regularly inspect hydraulic rescue tools to identify wear, damage, or malfunction.
  • Conduct functional tests to ensure they operate correctly.

Maintenance and Repairs:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as lubricating, cleaning, and replacing worn or damaged parts.
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic and mechanical issues promptly.

Calibration:

  • Calibrate and adjust tools to meet manufacturer specifications and safety standards.

Documentation:

  • Maintain detailed records of inspections, maintenance, repairs, and calibrations for each rescue tool.
  • Document any safety concerns or issues found during inspections.

Inventory Management:

  • Track spare parts and tools inventory to ensure that essential components are readily available for repairs and replacements.

Safety Compliance:

  • Ensure that all rescue tools meet safety regulations and standards.
  • Make recommendations for upgrades or modifications to enhance safety and efficiency.

Communication:

  • Collaborate with emergency services personnel to understand their specific tool needs and provide guidance on tool operation and maintenance.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical training or certification in hydraulic systems and mechanical components is preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of safety regulations and guidelines related to hydraulic rescue tools.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Experienced computer skills
  • Willing to travel and stay overnight at hotels for remote or large jobs, as needed.

  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for intricate repairs.

Pay: $68,000.00 per year
