First Aid Officer
Chevalier College is seeking applications for a First Aid Officer. The position will be a full-time permanent role
Monday to Friday during term time.

Role Requirements
The First Aid Officer is primarily responsible for providing first aid to students, maintaining first aid supplies, and the
establishment, maintenance and updating of student records associated with first aid and medical action plans. Key
responsibilities include:
• Provide first aid and temporary care to students, staff, and visitors, including coordinating hospital
transfers if required.
• Communicate with parents/carers regarding student illnesses or injuries and maintain collaborative
relationships for ongoing care.
• Develop and annually review individual health care plans and emergency response plans for students with
serious medical conditions in partnership with stakeholders.
• Manage the secure storage, supervision, and issuance of student medication.
• Maintain accurate records of student medical conditions, first aid visits, incidents, and injuries in
accordance with college procedures.
• Organise and oversee vaccination programs, ensuring all preparations, paperwork, and reporting are
completed as required.
• Monitor and maintain first aid supplies and equipment, including first aid kits, EpiPens, and defibrillators,
and make recommendations as needed.
• Maintain student health records and manage correspondence with families.
• Support the operation of Student Services, as required.
Essential Criteria
The ideal candidate will possess the following broad range of skills and experience including but not limited to:
• Proven ability to deliver high-quality first aid in diverse settings and emergencies. Experience in an
educational setting an advantage.
• Current certification in Provide Emergency First Aid Response in an Education and Care Setting
(HLTAID012) or willingness to undertake training.
• Calm, decisive, and authoritative in medical emergencies.
• Clear and effective communicator under pressure.
• Strong interpersonal skills to engage with students, parents/carers, staff, and external professionals with
the ability to build and maintain positive partnerships with stakeholders.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage competing responsibilities.
• Proficiency in office software (e.g. Microsoft Office). Experience with student management or other
database software an advantage.
• The ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team, supporting multiple departments and
assisting with cross-functional tasks.
Desirable Criteria
• Familiarity with managing defibrillators and other specialised first aid equipment.
• A background in nursing, paramedics, or a related field.
Other
• Permanent full-time position (term time only) to commence in Term 1 2025.
• Salary and conditions will be as per the NSW Catholic Independent Schools (Support Staff – Model B)
Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2023. The position will be paid at Level 4a circa $81,242 per annum (pro rata
for the days worked per annum) plus superannuation.
• This is a child-related position. Preferred candidates are required to possess or be eligible to obtain a
Working With Children Check.
