Job Description
Maintain, reconcile and report accurate accounts receivable and receipting activity for Housing, including over 4800 residents, summer conferences, and other housing revenues. Process deposits, receipts, charges and credits, maintain documentation, provide issue resolution and reports, and other related tasks and functions. Primary customer service representative for Accounts Receivable for Housing.

Given the nature of the positions in Student Engagement & Enrollment Services that provide support to student services and/or student-centered programs, the employee occupying this position may be required to work during a university closing. There may be occasions where the employee will be asked to work during university closings as directed by his or her supervisor. These instances may include working from a remote location (i.e. telework, etc.).

Type of Recruitment

Knowledge, skills and abilities
Considerable knowledge of general bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices and procedures including account activity analysis and correction, also posting, reconciling, preparing deposits and maintaining financial records and files. Working knowledge of processing payables, expenditures, deposits and refunds.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and general knowledge of databases and/or information systems. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent organization and time management skills. Strong data entry skills. Effective customer service skills when serving diverse customers.
Demonstrated ability to analyze financial transactions, balance deposits, reconcile input and output between systems, and identify and correct errors. Demonstrated ability to use a calculator to total large sums and create accurate tapes to accompany deposits. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people and to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.

Level and type of experience
Considerable customer service experience in a business environment. Considerable experience performing account review, receipting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, or similar business or accounting functions using automated systems.

Additional Considerations (supplemental knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification)
Extensive training in accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable or payroll. Business or accounting experience in a Higher Educational environment. Some experience in Banner financial software package, touchnet processes, StarRez or RMS housing systems. Basic experience working in a related field. Some customer service experience in a university setting.
