As a member of our Hydrogeology and Hydrology team, you’ll join a group of professionals that include geomorphologists, engineers, hydrogeologists, hydrologists, geochemists, surficial geologists, and environmental scientists to work in a dynamic and collaborative work environment on multi-disciplinary projects.

The ideal candidate for the Fluvial Processes Specialist will have knowledge and experience in fluvial geomorphology, hydrology, and open-channel hydraulics and interest in or experience with stream restoration, river systems, natural sciences, and aquatic ecosystems.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, compile, manage and assess geomorphological, hydrology, and hydraulic data
  • Conduct field work in southern Ontario with potential opportunity for remote locations
  • Contribute to fluvial geomorphology and open-channel hydraulic assessments
  • Hydraulic modelling of natural and engineered channels
  • Support the preparation of high-quality technical reports and proposals
  • Work collaboratively under the mentorship and supervision of senior technical staff

  • The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $80,000. Final agreed upon compensation will be commensurate with individual education, professional designation, experience, internal parity, and location

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related geoscience or engineering discipline (physical geography, water resources engineering, earth sciences, or environmental engineering)
  • Two years of experience with hydrology, geomorphology, fluvial processes, groundwater, and groundwater field methods
  • Master’s degree in relevant geoscience or engineering discipline would be considered an asset but not required
  • Registered (or eligible for registration) as a Geoscientist in Training (G.I.T.) or Engineer in Training (E.I.T.)
  • Experience completing fluvial geomorphology field work such as measuring bankfull cross-sections
  • Familiarity with GIS software
  • Familiarity with total station and RTK GPS survey methods
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel for fieldwork
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
