JOB SUMMARY

Kosmode Health Singapore Pte Ltd (KHS) is on a mission to expand access to health from nature, sustaining health of people without burdening the earth, as a business enabler of food wastes valorization, functional food formulation and supplier of repurposed functional ingredients & food.

This sustainable approach to health has been validated through the successful repurposing of Barley Spent Grains into Barley Protein Fibre and formulation of W0W® noodle. W0W® noodle, developed to empower blood sugar control, is the only functional food clinically proven to have 0 Glycemic Response i.e. no post prandial blood sugar elevation. With barley protein fiber from upcycled material, W0W® is an alternative to starch-loaded staples, enabling adherence to a low carb diet with protein & fiber, that is good for health of people and the earth.

Building on a solid technological foundation laid, we are seeking an experienced Food Technologist who can double up to support factory operations, to drive the next phase of production scale-up, to solve customers’ valorisation challenges and to develop new functional foods to address cardiometabolic health challenges. The candidate will play a crucial role in developing and optimizing food processing systems, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations, and contributing to the creation of sustainable functional ingredients from food waste streams.

JOB SCOPE

The Food Technologist at Kosmode Health is a pioneering role, with opportunity to be at the forefront of innovation in plant extraction, food processing, and functional food development. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in optimising processes, driving product development and pushing the boundaries of harnessing food processing wastes to address the challenge of feeding the growing, aging population without wrecking the earth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plant Extraction & Factory Support

• Constant exploration of bioactive of interest (e.g polyphenols, protein, fibers etc) from botanicals and manufacturing side-streams to include into innovation pipeline.
• Undertake extraction of bioactive and create new methodologies for valorisation with existing / new equipment.
• Optimise extraction processes to increase production throughput and output through process improvements and equipment optimisation.
• Addressing / Troubleshooting all technical challenges faced by operation team.
• Develop and execute test plans for all aspects of lab and pilot scale trials.
• Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure compliance of all technical and operational SOPs.
• Develop and maintain raw material, product specifications and process flow for extraction.
• Ensure all processes, ingredients and product labels adhere to food safety regulations and meet both local and international industry standards

Research & Product Development

• Lead end to end product development from concept, trial to commercialisation of new functional food or premixes that is developed.
• Develop and execute test plans for all aspects of lab and pilot scale trials.
• Explore and develop different function food with the usage of Kosmode Health’s proprietary raw material.
• Setup appropriate shelf life and sensory testing plans in accordance wit the distribution requirements of product.
• Prepare product prototypes for promotion, exhibition, and marketing purposes.
• Explore different types of application of Kosmode Health’s product in different product category in accordance with customers’ request.
• Documentation of all projects formula and testing results
• Perform analysis, characterization, identification of botanicals extracts.
• End to end sourcing of equipment and appropriate co-manufacturer for existing/ new products to be launched.
• Analyse and enhance the quality of spent ingredients to ensure consistency, nutrition and safety
• Lead efforts to optimise manufacturing process, focusing on increasing efficiency, reducing waste and improving sustainability, focusing on the valorisation of spent food ingredients

Contract Services & Business Support

• Scientific writings & presentations including grants applications, conference/scientific papers/presentations.
• Participate in customers’ meetings and business development activities.
• Project management - Plans, schedules, coordinate internal resources, liaise with third parties/vendors for the seamless execution of customers’ projects.
• Prepare business process reports, proposals and quotation for management and customers.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in food science &technology or a related field. A post-graduate degree is a plus.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years proven experience in food processing, product development, or a related field. Familiarity with sustainable food technologies is a plus.
