About the Scholarship
We have an exciting PhD scholarship opportunity funded by the Victorian Institute of Forensic Mental Health (Forensicare) for a project examining the efficacy of Forensicare regional forensic mental health teams as they are implemented across the state of Victoria over the coming years. The successful candidate will take part in investigating improved care continuity and coordination, diversion of people from the criminal justice system, reduced demand for costly and restrictive forensic mental health beds, collegial capability and capacity building, supported consumer recovery, and positive community perceptions of the regional forensic mental health services.
The PhD scholarship is available for a highly motivated and competitive candidate enrolled in a PhD program to undertake research that supports the research agenda of the project. The Scholarship will provide the successful applicant with opportunity to be involved in delivering recommendations of the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System. The candidate will also work collaboratively with the Victorian Institute of Forensic Mental Health (Forensicare), enabling them to establish an industry presence and develop leadership networks.
About you
To be successful in the role, you will have:
- Bachelor degree honours and/or a research master’s degree in psychological sciences, health sciences, population and global health, and those with relevant industry experience, with a First Class Honours (average grade 80-100) or equivalent.
- Meet the entry requirements for the relevant Higher Degree by Research at Swinburne University of Technology. The scholarship is contingent upon the candidate enrolling in the Doctor of Philosophy (Health Sciences), program.
- The capacity to work both independently and as part of a team in a collaborative manner.
- Problem solving and organisational capacities with the ability to manage task deadlines.
