Summary:
Blue Falls Manufacturing is urgently seeking a full-time Forklift Operator/Yard Laborer to join its Yard/Materials Handling team in Thorsby, AB. The successful candidate will provide internal movement, storage, control, and distribution of materials and products throughout Thorsby’s Blue Falls Manufacturing facility, as well as load inter-facility transfers and sales orders, either through the operation of material handling equipment (MHE) or manually, per existing company processes. This position reports to the Yard/Materials Manager, with a dotted line of responsibility to the VP of Operations. We are expediting hiring for this role and are interested in candidates who have immediate availability.
Work/life balance is part of BFM’s philosophy; this position operates Monday thru Friday, 7:00AM-3:30PM. Hours of work are subject to some fluctuation, in alignment with the prevailing production schedule. Occasional overtime may be required.

Duties:
- Load, unload, sort, and move shipments manually or using material handling equipment such as a forklift or pallet jack
- Verify deliveries and shipments; accept, count, and take note of parts and their condition
- Prioritize requests made by the production team and readily respond to moving products
- Yard maintenance; general garbage/debris clean-up
- Initiate hazardous materials/chemical disposal process; report to Yard Manager when materials, bins/containers require emptying or removal
- Perform outside facility maintenance to ensure safe conditions for staff (maintain clear walkways, shipping bay pads, and other path or roadways as necessary in winter; perform various yard work in summer i.e. weed-whacking, lawn mowing, etc.)
- Assist in conducting inventory counts
- Sort, move, stack, and palletize raw materials, product/components, and boxes
- General clean-up; sweep and adequately dispose of packing materials and refuse
- General warehousing duties as required
Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to work well under supervision, autonomously, and collaboratively as part of a team
- Excellent attendance and punctuality
- Physically fit with good mobility and manual dexterity
- Able to stand for sustained durations over an eight (8) hour period
- Capable of performing repetitive tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to push/pull or lift to 50lbs unassisted
- Able to utilize two-way radios to maintain communication with team members
- Receptive to learning; willingness to take on additional task(s)/function(s)
Experience/Qualifications:
- Previous experience in parts/picking, shipping, or receiving, warehousing
- Past (recent) or current certification in material handling equipment (MHE) such as forklifts, telehandlers, etc.
- Experience operating various types of MHE, i.e., CAT, BRANDT, CROWN, etc.
- Proficiency with warehouse material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, etc.
Work Environment:
- Predominantly outdoor; yard, warehouse, and periodic exposure to manufacturing plant
- Exposure to fluctuating weather/temperatures; exposure to inclement weather
- May be exposed to dust/particulates, varying noise levels, and possibly chemicals/fumes
Compensation:
- Starting at $21.50/hr.; commensurate with skills, experience, and qualifications

Other:
- Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License and reliable personal transportation to commute to and from work
