About the role
S&C Concrete Services Pty Ltd is seeking experienced Formwork Carpenters to join our team working on commercial and industrial concrete construction projects across Perth.
The primary function of the role is formwork carpentry, including the preparation, assembly, installation, adjustment and dismantling of formwork and associated timber structures for concrete works.
We are particularly interested in experienced formwork carpenters who also have practical concrete placement and finishing experience, including screeding, levelling and trowel finishing.
Key responsibilities
- Read and interpret construction drawings, plans and specifications.
- Set out work areas and prepare layouts for formwork structures.
- Measure, cut, shape and assemble timber, plywood and formwork components.
- Construct, erect, install, modify and dismantle formwork for slabs, beams, columns, walls and footings.
- Install bracing, supports and frameworks and ensure formwork is level, aligned and structurally secure.
- Check completed formwork for correct positioning, dimensions and readiness for concrete placement.
- Assist with concrete placement into completed formwork and monitor and adjust formwork during pours.
- Assist with screeding, levelling and finishing of concrete associated with formwork works.
- Undertake hand trowelling and operate power-finishing equipment where required.
- Strip formwork and undertake minor make-good works following concrete placement.
- Use carpentry hand tools, power tools, levels, saws and measuring equipment safely.
- Comply with workplace health and safety requirements and site procedures.
Requirements
- At least 3 years' relevant experience as a Formwork Carpenter, Carpenter or closely related carpentry role.
- Strong practical formwork carpentry experience.
- Experience measuring, cutting, assembling and installing timber, plywood and formwork systems.
- Ability to read construction drawings and work accurately from plans and measurements.
- Practical experience with concrete placement, screeding, levelling or finishing associated with formwork construction.
- Trowel-finishing experience highly regarded.
- Experience operating hand-guided or ride-on power trowels highly regarded.
- Good construction-site safety awareness.
- Reliable and able to work independently and as part of a construction team.
- Sufficient workplace English.
- Relevant trade qualification or completed apprenticeship highly regarded.

Full-time employment based in Perth, Western Australia.

Pay: $40.00 – $50.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
