Description & Expectations
We are searching for an experienced FPGA and DSP Specialist for SDR applications to join our R&D team.
Our technology combines UAVs with specialized RF payloads that enable precise spectrum monitoring, emitter detection, and RF validation to support calibration, testing, and operational readiness of EW, SATCOM, and radar systems for defense and commercial applications.
In this role, your primary focus will be to support technology development across both commercial SATCOM applications and security/defense use cases by designing, implementing and integrating DSP algorithms and FPGA-based DSP pipelines.
At Quadsat, your input and voice are valued; we believe in empowerment and accountability, which will give you room to take ownership and drive the creation of innovative solutions for our customers.
Responsibilities
On a day-to-day basis you can expect to work on the following:
- Design and implement DSP algorithms for signal classification, interference detection, demodulation, and geo-localization within Software Defined Radio (SDR) systems.
- Develop and optimize embedded DSP software in C/C++ for real-time applications on microcontrollers and embedded Linux platforms.
- Design and implement FPGA-based DSP pipelines using VHDL and/or Verilog.
- Analyze RF signal environments in the 0.5–40 GHz range and contribute to algorithmic strategies for signal separation, decoding, and identification.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including software engineers, RF engineers, antenna measurement specialists, mechanical engineers, and robotics experts.
- Prototype and validate algorithms using MATLAB and simulate signal environments when needed.
- Interface with commercial and defense-grade SDR platforms and adapt solutions to new SDR hardware as needed.
- Contribute to system-level integration and testing of DSP modules within UAV-based RF payloads.
- Produce clean, well-documented, and testable code following software development best practices.
- Generate and collaborate on required design documents, development requirements, specifications and verification protocols.
- Work closely with hardware and hardware engineers, bringing up boards, interpreting data sheets and schematics.
- Work comfortably with physical SDR and RF hardware, including test, integration, and troubleshooting tasks.
- Maintain and control FPGA code revision history.
Skills & Experience
We envision that you have a bachelor or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field and 4+ years of professional experience in DSP development for RF and SDR systems in relevant industries (e.g. SATCOM, defense, telecom).
In addition, you bring:
- Proven experience with embedded DSP programming in C/C++, including fixed-point and real-time processing considerations.
- Proficiency in FPGA-based DSP design, with hands-on experience in VHDL or Verilog.
- Familiarity with RF signal processing from 2–40 GHz (DC-2GHz is a plus).
- Ability to work effectively in cross-disciplinary engineering teams and communicate clearly with both software and hardware specialists.
- Strong analytical mindset and ability to work independently in an R&D-focused environment.
- Ability to work directly with SDR and RF hardware, including test setup, integration, signal injection, and hardware-level debugging in lab environments.
- Fluency in English, both written and orally.
Additionally, it is a plus if you have:
- Experience with MATLAB for prototyping or algorithm verification.
- Exposure to and experience with geo-localization techniques (e.g. TDOA, AoA, RF triangulation).
All candidates must be eligible to obtain security clearance with the Danish Defense/NATO.
Our Dynamic Work Environment:
