Position Summary

The cashier position at Market Fresh is responsible for providing fast, friendly, and accurate checkout service to customers. This role involves scanning items, handling payments, issuing receipts, and ensuring a pleasant experience at the front end of the store. Cashiers are also expected to answer customer inquiries, assist with bagging items, and help maintain cleanliness and organization at the register area. As the last point of contact in the shopping experience, the cashier plays a key role in customer satisfaction and store efficiency.

Job Structure

This is a part time, hourly wage position. Work schedule includes weekends and holidays as required. Paid vacation accrual at 4%.

Responsibilities

• Provide warm, efficient, and knowledgeable customer service while keeping checkout lines moving.
• Confidently operate the register, barcode scanner, and payment systems in a fast-paced environment.
• Accurately scan and bag groceries, handling products with care.
• Process all forms of payment, including cash, credit/debit cards and giftcards.
• Communicate current store promotions, holiday catering options, and community fundraising initiatives to customers, helping them take advantage of special offerings.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-prepared checkout area throughout your shift.
• Answer customer questions and help guide them to the right products or departments.
• Identify pricing discrepancies, equipment issues, or safety concerns and communicate them promptly.
• Follow established cash-handling, loss-prevention, and safety procedures.
• Support your teammates and adapt quickly as priorities shift during busy periods.

• Previous cashier or customer service experience.
• Basic math and computer skills.

• Flexible availability, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $17.60 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
