This opportunity is with our Good Shepherd - HOMES Program, based out of Mathias Place.

How You Will Make an Impact

The HOMES program provides supportive housing to persons who have been homeless and are living with a mental illness. Team members support tenants to reach personal goals and to have a satisfying and meaningful life in the community. An opportunity exists to join our Mental Health team as a Community Support Cleaning Coach.

  • Work to make a difference in the lives of tenants living at Mathias Place and other sites within the Good Shepherd HOMES Program.
  • Provide hands-on assistance to tenants with independent living skills in the community - specifically cleaning, laundry, and organization.
  • Be an integral part of the mental health team that supports and advocates for the clients.
  • Work collaboratively with the tenants in their home and in a range of community settings with a range of functions, such a cleaning, and other associated tasks that supports our tenants.
  • Observe all health and safety rules and work in compliance with the provisions of the occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations

What You'll Bring to Our Team

  • A post-secondary education and experience in social services, personal support, and/or life skills training.
  • A minimum of two years' experience in mental health, health care, developmental services and/or concurrent disorders is required.
  • Prior experience cleaning apartments, especially those affected by hoarding or heavy clutter, is preferred.
  • A 'recovery orientation' and consumer driven' style of practice.
  • The ability to work independently, take initiative and think creatively.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with individuals with diverse and complex health and psycho-social needs.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently in client homes and community settings.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Committed to anti-racist/anti-oppressive practice and to the mission and values of Good Shepherd.
  • Fluent in English; second language skills are considered a strong asset.
