About the position
ResLab builds empirical infrastructure for register-based research by negotiating access to administrative records that are not available for research and linking them to national registers for analysis. The work combines access negotiation, data construction, and econometric analyses of how out-of-work events create social market frictions in the labor market. The research environment also offers opportunities for collaboration with the Department of Economics. This position is funded through a collaboration with the Rockwool Foundation. The project uses proprietary police data on employer-initiated criminal record checks—linked to population registers and firm-level data—to study how record visibility and legal costs shape employment trajectories and criminal behavior.
The position is designed for candidates who plan to apply to competitive PhD programs and want to strengthen their research profile through direct involvement in all stages of the research process from data construction to econometric analysis to manuscript development.
What you will do
You will take responsibility for concrete parts of the research process and develop the ability to carry tasks from data construction through to econometric analysis. Tasks are rarely templated; you will encounter problems that require you to construct the solution.- Coordinate with external data custodians as part of ongoing access work
- Maintain and extend SAS-based data pipelines that process large-scale administrative records
- Clean, structure, and document datasets constructed from multiple linked sources
- Develop and maintain reproducible workflows for data construction and econometric analysis
- Contribute to econometric analyses using quasi-experimental methods
What you bring
We look for candidates with strong analytical ability and the capacity to work with complex, non-routine problems.- A completed master’s degree in management, economics, data science, or a related quantitative field
- Strong training in econometrics or statistics
- Demonstrated experience working with non-trivial data beyond coursework, for example in a thesis, a research project, or a professional role
- Willingness to learn SAS and work within large-scale data pipelines
What we offer:
- Responsibility across the research process, with scope expanding as ability is demonstrated
- A small, close-knit research team with a high degree of collaboration within a large international department
- Access to unique, restricted datasets
- Structured support for candidates preparing for competitive PhD programs, including guidance and an active alumni network
