Fullstack Developers, Store Operations

We are looking for Fullstack Developers to join the Store Operations team at SOK. Our primary workplace is our Helsinki office, Ässäkeskus, where we meet our colleagues several times a week. When your duties allow, you can also work flexibly remotely for part of the week.

Store Operations area is about the employee experience (EX) with regards to digital tools and daily processes, leadership and learning experience (LX) improving the management of stores and the customer’s experience (CX) with digital apps and POS systems in the store. The EX and LX teams develop key digital services that support S Group’s store operations, internal efficiency, and business-critical processes. Both teams are divided into squads, each focusing on its own set of services. You will join one squad, but you will also play an important role in understanding and contributing to the broader service ecosystem.

The role exists to strengthen our ability to deliver robust, scalable and business-aligned digital solutions for store operations. You will be working on challenges related to performance, reliability, usability and integration across interconnected systems. By developing our services further, you will directly improve the daily work of thousands of store employees across the S Group network.

Your responsibilities include designing, building and maintaining fullstack solutions using our modern technology stack (Node.js, Express, React, TypeScript, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL/PostgreSQL, GitLab). You will participate in planning, architecture discussions, cross-team collaboration and continuous improvement of engineering practices.

Your day-to-day work consists of development tasks, code reviews, backlog refinement, collaborating with product owners and UX designers, and working with your squad to deliver high-quality solutions. Our squads operate with autonomy, agile practices and a strong sense of ownership. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary squad of developers, product owners and designers. Beyond your own squad, you will collaborate with other product and business stakeholders, especially store operations. Our teams combine strong engineering expertise with a deep understanding of store processes, working together through open communication and shared problem-solving.

We are looking for Fullstack developers who already have experience and who see themselves to be a mid-level or senior developer, but even more important to us is your willingness to take on responsibility and ownership.

We hope that you bring experience in web development and familiarity with some of the technologies we use, such as Node.js, React, TypeScript, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL/PostgreSQL and GitLab.

You are genuinely interested in understanding business needs and store processes, and you appreciate working collaboratively with your team while contributing to good engineering practices. In this role, you will need to communicate fluently in both Finnish and English, and we value your curiosity and enthusiasm for AI‑assisted development as part of modern software engineering. Most importantly, you are willing to take responsibility beyond just writing code and who sees ownership, quality and continuous improvement as part of your everyday work.
