Role
The Funding & Impact Officer will support Southside Partnership DLR to strengthen organisational sustainability by identifying and progressing funding opportunities and by clearly demonstrating impact across programmes and services.
The post-holder will support the organisation through researching potential funders, drafting high-quality funding proposals and submissions, coordinating inputs across teams, and supporting the evaluation and reporting of funded projects.
This role works closely with Programme staff, Finance, and Senior leadership colleagues to align funding opportunities with organisational priorities and to communicate SSP’s outcomes through strong evidence, community insight and impact reporting. Given the part-time nature of the role, priorities and deliverables will be agreed with senior management and reviewed on an ongoing basis to ensure workload remains realistic and achievable.
- Contract: 12-month fixed term contract with possibility of extension, subject to successful completion of probation.
- Hours: part time, 3 days per week (21 hours)
- Location: The Old Post Office, 7 Rock Hill, Main Street, Blackrock, Co. Dublin
- Salary: Development Worker Scale (€35,371–€51,361 FTE), pro-rata for 3 days per week (€21,223–€30,817 per annum), depending on experience.
- Reports to: CEO / Social Inclusion Manager
- Probation: 6 months
Duties & Responsibilities (include but not limited to)
1. Funding Development and Grant Writing
- Research and identify relevant local, national and philanthropic funding opportunities aligned with SSP priorities.
- Draft and coordinate high-quality grant applications, proposals and funding submissions (in collaboration with programme leads and senior management).
- Maintain a grants calendar to track funding deadlines, submission dates and reporting requirements.
- Coordinate internal contributions from teams to ensure strong, complete and timely funding applications.
- Work with Finance and programme teams to support budget input for funding applications and ensure alignment between narrative and financial information.
- Support narrative and impact reporting to funders, ensuring outcomes and evidence are captured appropriately.
- Support the development of consistent, high-quality “core content” that can be reused across funding applications (e.g., organisational overview, impact statements, priority themes).
- Support funder reporting requirements in collaboration with programme teams and Senior management (as required).
2. Impact Reporting and Organisational Planning
- Support the development and coordination of SSP’s annual organisational plan, working with Senior management and Project Leads.
- Gather and consolidate programme updates, outputs and outcomes from teams and produce clear written summaries for internal and external reporting needs.
- Develop and maintain efficient internal reporting templates that support consistent reporting across the organisation and can feed into Board and funder reporting mechanisms.
- Work with Project Leaders and managers to embed and continuously improve reporting templates and reporting processes across teams, ensuring consistency and timely inputs.
- Support the preparation of structured reports and written updates for management, Senior management and Board use (as required).
- Prepare a CEO reporting brief/pack summarising progress, key outcomes, and emerging issues (as required).
3. Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning
- Support programme evaluation activities, including gathering qualitative and quantitative information, summarising findings and drafting evaluation write-ups.
- Work with programme teams to support practical approaches to capturing outcomes and impact (e.g., feedback tools, outcome summaries, case studies and participant stories).
- Contribute to organisational learning by identifying key themes, emerging needs, successes and areas for improvement across programmes.
- Support the organisation to evidence outcomes in a way that is meaningful for communities while also meeting reporting requirements.
4. Community Insight and Socio-Economic Profiles (CSO Data)
- Develop and update community and socio-economic profiles using CSO and other relevant public data sources.
- Produce accessible and useful insights to support organisational planning, reporting, programme development and funding narratives.
- Support teams to integrate community insight and socio-economic context effectively into reports and funding proposals.
5. Communications (Impact-led Content)
- Act as a central point of coordination for SSP external communications content, ensuring consistent messaging, tone and quality across programmes and services.
- Gather information from teams and develop bi-monthly newsletters highlighting programme delivery, events, outcomes and training opportunities.
- Develop and maintain a forward communications plan / content calendar (e.g., monthly) in collaboration with Senior management and programme teams.
- Draft and coordinate social media content to promote SSP work and impact, aligned with organisational priorities and values.
- Support the development of impact-led stories, case studies and key messages that demonstrate outcomes for communities, services and funders.
- Coordinate external communications content for key events, launches, announcements, and programme milestones, ensuring timely and appropriate sharing.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure communications are GDPR-compliant, respectful and reflective of community-led practice.
- Support managers and teams by editing and strengthening written content for external use (where appropriate), ensuring clarity and consistency.
- Ensure external communication outputs are accurate, accessible, and aligned with SSP’s public profile and strategic priorities.
- Note: technical maintenance of website/IT platforms sits with the Operations Support role; this post focuses on communications content, messaging and coordination.
6. External Policy Awareness
- Monitor relevant external policy developments and structures impacting SSP programmes, where appropriate.
- Share key policy updates with managers and teams to support awareness, planning and alignment.
- Support the organisation to respond to external policy changes that may impact service delivery or community needs (as agreed with Senior management).
Requirements
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- A third-level qualification at NFQ Level 8 (Honours Bachelor Degree) in a relevant discipline such as Community Development, Social Sciences, Public Policy, Communications, Social Care, Research, or a related field. NFQ Level 7 (Ordinary Bachelor Degree) may be considered with substantial relevant experience in funding/grant writing, impact reporting, monitoring & evaluation and/or communications within the community and voluntary sector.
- Strong understanding of the community and voluntary sector and commitment to social inclusion and equality.
- Demonstrated experience in at least two of the following areas:
- - funding applications / grant writing / funding-related reporting
- - impact reporting / monitoring and evaluation / programme reporting
- - communications (newsletters, stakeholder updates, digital content)
- Strong IT skills (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook).
- Ability to work independently with initiative, while also collaborating closely with teams and senior leadership.
- Strong planning skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Desirable
- Experience working with reporting systems or databases (e.g., IRIS or similar).
- Experience in developing reporting templates or organisational reporting processes.
- Experience using communications tools (e.g., Canva, scheduling tools).
- Familiarity with local and national policy frameworks relevant to community development, social inclusion, children and families, education, health and wellbeing.
- Familiarity with Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown communities and interagency structures.
- Experience with SICAP-funded initiatives or Tusla partnership projects.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, structured and persuasive written outputs (reports, proposals, summaries).
- Strong research skills and ability to identify relevant funding opportunities and interpret funder criteria.
- Strong organisational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
- Ability to gather information from teams and translate it into high-quality narrative reporting and evidence-based content.
- Confidence working with data and statistics, including CSO figures and basic outcome reporting.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build effective working relationships across the organisation.
- High attention to detail and sound professional judgement, particularly in relation to sensitive information and organisational communications.
- The Funding & Impact Officer will be expected to work in a collaborative, trauma-informed and respectful manner aligned with SSP values.
Other Requirements:
