Position: Furnace Operator – Melt Shop

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate and load furnaces with scrap iron utilizing overhead crane to a specified temperature for processing.
• Monitor and regulate temperature controls and heating time.
• Identify, measure and add alloys to ladle iron pouring preparation.
• Observe and adjust controls to maintain temperature between specified limits.
• Communicate with production team regarding proper temperature of iron.
• Collaborate with the manufacturing team to ensure production conformity.
• Repairs and maintains ladles in use in the melt shop
• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their uses and maintenance as well as using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes.
• Experience inspecting equipment, structures or materials to identify the cause of errors or defects.
• Ability to work in and around extreme heat.
• Experience operating crane and forklift.
• Basic computer skills.
• High school diploma or GED.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

• Handle moving objects: Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning and moving materials.
• The ability to see details at close and distant range with depth perception and the ability to see colors.
• Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking stooping and handling materials.
• Indoor and outdoor climate conditions during all seasons and in varying temperatures.
• Ability to lift items up to 50 lbs.

Job Type: Full Time. Hourly, non-exempt.
