The Role is a part-time, hourly-paid role.
Job Specification: SOLAS Approved Tutors (Panel)
Position Title: SOLAS Approved Plant & Machinery Instructors ( Panel being formed)
Reports To: Training Manager / Centre Manager
Location: County Leitrim
Role Purpose
We are seeking Expressions of Interest from qualified SOLAS CSCS/QSCS Approved Tutors who deliver high-quality training and assessment in line with national standards for plant and machinery operations. Successful candidates will be added to our panel of tutors for any training delivery opportunities that may arise over the coming two-years. Suitable candidates may be responsible in whole or in part for providing instruction, assessment, and certification to candidates across a range of machinery and site safety training programmes.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver training and assessment in accordance with SOLAS CSCS/QSCS guidelines.
- Support the continuous improvement of training programmes and contribute to centre audits as required.
- Ensure compliance with all SOLAS and QQI quality assurance standards.
- Maintain accurate learner records, assessments, and certification documentation.
- Conduct trainee evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and support learner progression.
- Promote safe operating practices and ensure all training is delivered in a controlled, safety-focused environment.
- Keep up to date with industry regulations, training standards, and legislative requirements.
- Provide practical and theoretical instruction for the following categories:
- Excavator (180° & 360°)
- Mini Digger / Excavator
- Site Dumper
- Articulated Dumper
- Rigid Dump Truck
- Telescopic Handler
- Tractor/Dozer
- Basic Scaffolding
- Advanced Scaffolding
Essential Requirement's:
- Current SOLAS CSCS/QSCS Approved Tutor accreditation for the listed plant categories/courses
- Applicants must clearly indicate which categories / courses they are applying to tutor on.
- Must have a current valid Safepass course completed within the last year.
- Proven instructional experience in construction plant and machinery operation.
- Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations relevant to construction sites.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse learner groups.
- Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
Desirable:
- Additional accreditations or approvals in other construction-related categories.
- Previous experience working in a training centre environment.
- Experience with blended learning / e-learning delivery methods.
