Game Systems Designer (3-6 Months)

We’re seeking a Game Systems Designer to help architect the underlying progression logic that drives repeat visits, unlocks real-world rewards, and scales across multiple physical locations. This isn’t a traditional game—but the systems behind it need to feel like one.

What You’ll Be Designing

You’ll lead the development of core retention and progression systems that reward customers through:

  • XP mechanics
  • Level-based tiers
  • Unlockable achievements
  • Daily/weekly missions
  • Code-triggered in-store events
  • Factional progression and leaderboard structures

These systems need to be engaging, scalable, and translatable to both digital and physical touchpoints—including kiosks, CRM flows, mobile, and in-store screens.

Your Responsibilities

  • Design and prototype player progression loops and reward mechanics tailored to real-world behavior
  • Define how XP, quests, streaks, and milestones drive repeat engagement and social play
  • Collaborate with CRM and narrative teams to ensure systems align with story arcs and technical feasibility
  • Balance core loops for depth and scalability across multiple locations and user types
  • Work with dev/ops to document mechanics in a clear, replicable format
  • Suggest tools and tech workflows (e.g., Airtable, Notion, custom CMS logic) to manage these systems long-term

You Might Be a Fit If You...

  • Have 2–5 years experience in game system design, especially in live-service or mobile games
  • Understand player psychology, retention curves, and monetisation-free engagement strategies
  • Have built or balanced meta systems, progression trees, or economy loops
  • Know how to make behavior feel rewarding—without needing to sell loot boxes
  • Can clearly document systems in a way that non-game stakeholders (ops, CRM, marketing) can implement

Bonus if you’ve worked on:

  • Loyalty programs or real-world gamified ecosystems
  • Escape rooms, LARP systems, alternate reality games (ARGs)
  • Consumer-facing mobile apps with gamification layers
  • XP or reward systems that interface with CRM tools (Klaviyo, Braze, etc.)

Project Details

  • Duration: 3–6 months contract
  • Location: Singapore-based or timezone-compatible (remote OK)
  • Start: Immediate
  • Rate: Competitive, based on experience and scope
  • Confidential IP: More details shared upon shortlist

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $8,000.00 - $20,000.00 per month

Benefits:

  • Flexible schedule

Work Location: Remote
