We are looking for someone who is confident in making informed decisions in a leadership role and has a solid knowledge of horticulture/gardening. This person should have great communication skills, be able to lead and train 1-2 other employees and will report directly to the Horticultural Service Manager. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 3 years of experience in field-based horticulture in Colorado. Preference given to those with the following certifications: Colorado Master Gardener or Gardening Certificate, Rocky Mountain Gardener, Certified Landscape Technician (in applicable categories) Certified Pesticide Application (in applicable categories).

FLSA Status: Hourly - Non-Exempt
Available Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM
Work-site: Field/Work Location Varies/Changes Daily
Reports to: Horticultural Services Manager

This person should have great communication skills, be able to lead and train 1-2 other employees and will report directly to the Horticultural Service Manager. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 3 years of experience in field-based horticulture in Colorado. Preference given to those with the following certifications: Colorado Master Gardener or Gardening Certificate, Rocky Mountain Gardener, Certified Landscape Technician (in applicable categories) Certified Pesticide Application (in applicable categories). In business since 2010, we are located in Lakewood, Colorado, and serve the metro-Denver area and foothill communities. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Capable of taking descriptive clear notes, and reporting to Horticultural Services Manager.

  • Working knowledge of irrigation clocks, minor repairs, and system functions.

  • Understanding of cultural requirements for a variety of perennials.

  • Able to keep the team on schedule, track time and communicate.

  • Be able to interact with clients to discuss plant health care needs.

  • Working knowledge of Colorado soil conditions and amendments

  • Ability to identify weeds, pests, and diseases.

  • Understand organic and synthetic pest controls.

  • Proper pruning techniques for trees and shrubs.

  • Adheres to and enforces safety protocols.

  • Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed to support organizational needs.

Preferred Education, Work Experience & Skills:

  • Reliable transportation, and able to be insurable on the company’s insurance policy.

  • Must have a valid/current driver license and clean MVR

  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic

  • Be able to work with hand and power tools

  • Be able to comply with all safety requirements

Physical Requirements:

  • Physically able to handle the workload of a Crew Leader.

  • Able to lift 50 Lbs. without assistance.

  • Have full range of mobility in upper and lower body.

  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly in person, and by phone, as needed.

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting standards specified in job description and through performance management.

  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

  • Must be able to be physically present at work during operating hours.

Work Environment:

Outdoor working conditions in typical Colorado climate including conditions such as extreme heat & cold and inclement weather; team transportation in a crew vehicle throughout the day to landscape maintenance job sites located at but not limited to, busy streets, residential and commercial locations.

Compensation:
Pay is based on relevant skills and experience
DOE: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour
