M.J. Bale is looking for an experienced Garment Technician to help deliver exceptional fit, construction and quality across our premium menswear collections.
This is a high-impact technical role for someone with extensive menswear expertise and a meticulous eye for detail. Working across the full product lifecycle—from initial prototype through to final production—you will help ensure every garment reflects the quality, craftsmanship and consistency expected of the M.J. Bale brand.

THE OPPORTUNITY
As our Garment Technician, you will take ownership of technical specifications, garment fit and manufacturing quality across an extensive menswear product range.
Partnering closely with our design, product and supplier teams, you will translate creative concepts into beautifully constructed, commercially viable garments that meet our quality and performance standards.
Your responsibilities will include:
SPECIFICATION AND TEMPLATE MANAGEMENT
- Create accurate technical specifications for all new fashion styles
- Update existing specifications to reflect fit, construction and production changes
- Build and maintain specification templates within the 3Clicks PLM system
- Ensure technical information is clear, consistent and production-ready
- Lead live fit sessions and provide clear, commercially focused technical feedback
- Evaluate prototype and development samples for fit, proportion and construction
- Identify and resolve fit challenges across pre-production samples
- Maintain fit consistency across product categories and seasonal collections
- Develop practical solutions to complex garment construction and finishing challenges
- Assess workmanship and ensure garments meet M.J. Bale’s quality standards
- Evaluate fabric performance to minimise potential quality and customer-care issues
- Develop accurate care-label instructions based on fabric and textile testing
- Identify risks early and recommend solutions before production
- Support the onboarding of new suppliers and communicate brand quality expectations
- Assess factory craftsmanship against M.J. Bale’s technical and engineering standards
- Provide clear technical guidance to external manufacturing partners
- Build productive supplier relationships that support quality, consistency and timely delivery
ABOUT YOU
You are an accomplished Garment Technician with deep technical knowledge, strong commercial judgement and an uncompromising commitment to product excellence.
You will bring:
- Extensive experience as a Garment Technician, Garment Technologist or Quality Assurance specialist within menswear
- Broad product knowledge across suiting, shirting, outerwear, casual jackets and leather garments
- Advanced knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, manufacturing methods and fabric performance
- Strong experience with tailored and casual trousers
- Technical knowledge of fashion knitwear and cut-and-sew jersey products, including T-shirts, joggers and hoodies
- The ability to confidently assess fit, construction and quality from prototype through to production
- Advanced Excel capability and confidence preparing detailed technical information
- Strong proficiency in 3Clicks, PLM software or comparable specification systems
- Excellent communication and the ability to collaborate effectively with designers, product teams and international suppliers
- Exceptional attention to detail, organisation and problem-solving skills
- Influence fit and quality across a premium Australian menswear collection
- Work across a diverse product range, from tailoring and shirting to knitwear, outerwear and leather
