Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled General Labourer to join our Metal and Machine Shop operations. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic manufacturing environment, supporting various fabrication and machining processes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude, familiarity with manufacturing tools, and the ability to work safely and efficiently in a team setting. Experience with blueprint reading, and CNC machinery, and quality control is highly desirable. This role is essential for maintaining smooth production workflows and ensuring high-quality output.
Duties
- Assist with the setup, operation, and maintenance of CNC machines including milling machines, lathes, and press brake equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, to ensure accurate fabrication. Capable of learning plasma and laser operations if necessary
- Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely to move materials within the shop.
- Conduct precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, micrometer gauges, and other precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions.
- Support machining operations by fabricating parts, assembling components, and performing quality control checks.
- Maintain a clean, organized work environment adhering to safety standards and lean manufacturing principles.
- Assist in tooling setup, changeovers, and troubleshooting of machinery as needed.
- Follow safety protocols related to welding, machining, handling hazardous materials, and operating heavy equipment.
Experience
- Prior experience in manufacturing or metalworking environments is preferred.
- Knowledge of blueprint reading,
- Hands-on experience , fabrication techniques, hand tools, power tools, and press brake operation.
- Familiarity with programmable logic control FANUC machining processes, quality control procedures, and tooling management.
- Ability to operate forklifts safely; warehouse experience is a plus.
- Basic math skills necessary for measurements and calculations related to machining tolerances.
- Mechanical knowledge related to manufacturing processes including assembly and fabrication techniques. Hours are to be determined at interview and acceptance letter. We have a customer base that needs our flexible hours. Position will be on days or afternoon shift to be determined. Hours will be based on a 5 day work week.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $20.00-$28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
