We are seeking a detail-oriented, hands-on accounting professional to manage the full-cycle bookkeeping and general ledger functions across multiple related entities. This role is critical to maintaining accurate financial records, supporting leadership with timely reporting, and helping scale accounting processes as the business grows.
You’ll work closely with ownership and operations, so this role requires both technical accounting skills and the ability to operate in a fast-moving, sometimes informal environment typical of a family-owned business.
Key Responsibilities
Backup Bookkeeping Coverage
- Develop working knowledge of all core bookkeeping functions to provide reliable backup support and ensure continuity of operations
- Step in during absences, high-volume periods, or as workload demands
- Ensure continuity and accuracy of day-to-day financial operations
General Ledger Ownership
- Maintain and review general ledger activity across multiple entities
- Prepare and post journal entries (accruals, reclasses, adjustments)
- Ensure proper account classification and consistency across companies
- Oversee intercompany transactions and reconciliations
Month-End Close & Reconciliations
- Support monthly close process
- Reconcile all balance sheet accounts
- Identify and resolve discrepancies proactively
- Strengthen and document close procedures
Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet)
- Assist with consolidated reporting across entities
- Provide basic variance analysis and flag unusual trends
- Support ownership with timely, reliable financial insights
Process Improvement & Controls
- Identify gaps or inefficiencies in current workflows
- Help implement more structured processes and internal controls
- Support optimization of accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks or similar platforms)
- Document procedures to reduce key-person dependency
Compliance & Year-End Support
- Assist with sales tax, 1099s, and other filings
- Prepare schedules and documentation for external CPA
- Ensure clean, audit-ready financials
Qualifications
Required
- 1-4+ years of bookkeeping and/or general ledger accounting experience
- Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting, with emphasis on GL and reconciliations
- Experience working with multiple entities or complex account structures
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Excel
- Ability to step into transactional work when needed without losing sight of the bigger picture
Preferred
- Experience supporting or working alongside another bookkeeper or small accounting team
- Background in a growing or family-owned business environment
- Familiarity with intercompany accounting
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
