We are now looking for a General Manager for the UPM Specialty Materials Jämsänkoski mill in Jämsä.

“Leading this mill means taking ownership of daily operations and long‑term development. With around 300 of our own people and around 450 employees on site in total, clear leadership is essential for safety, stable production and future development of the whole mill site. We are looking for someone who can focus on practical improvements, drive development and ensure the mill remains competitive and relevant in the community. What you will do

  • Implement the UPM Specialty Materials strategy and the Global Specialty Papers SBU key focus areas at the mill level and contribute to the work of the Operations management team
  • Lead the mill personnel and operations to maximize the performance of the mill in the areas safety & environment, operations, quality, productivity and cost performance
  • Evaluate options to develop the mill in the long term, including possible investments in technology, systems, personnel, mill site development possibilities or other areas that will enhance the unit’s competitiveness
  • Act as the company representative towards main external stakeholders, authorities, the local community, media and industrial organizations, where relevant
  • Ensure the operating prerequisites of the mill with respect to authorities, permits, legal requirements and compliance

Who you are

  • You have a university degree and at least 10 years of experience in relevant roles
  • Your behaviour demonstrates a strong commitment to safety above all other priorities
  • You have a solid understanding of the mill as an operating environment and can successfully align its different departments to work towards common goals
  • You communicate well and build trust with people, both internally at different levels of the organization as well as with external stakeholders
  • You are skilled at prioritising and capable of furthering a broad range of topics with your team
  • You remain calm and solution-focused under pressure

This position is located in Jämsä, Finland.

The position holder will report to the VP, Operations, Global Specialty Papers.
