Description

To support the collection, transportation, and processing of recyclable materials, including Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). This role combines responsibilities as a van driver and general operative, ensuring efficient operations while maintaining health, safety, and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

Driving & Collection Duties [driving 3.5 Luton Van]

Safely operate company vehicle for the collection of recyclable materials from various customer sites.
Plan and follow efficient routes to ensure timely completion of collection schedules.
Conduct daily vehicle checks and report any maintenance or safety issues.
Accurately complete paperwork or digital records for all collections.

General Operational Support

Assist in loading and unloading materials, ensuring items are handled safely and efficiently.
Sort and prepare materials for recycling in line with WEEE regulations and company procedures.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation in vehicles, storage areas, and workspaces.
Support other team members in general recycling operations as required.

Health, Safety & Compliance

Adhere to health and safety protocols, using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Ensure all activities comply with environmental and waste management regulations.
Promptly report hazards, incidents, or equipment malfunctions.

Customer Interaction

Act as a professional representative of the company during collections, ensuring positive interactions with customers.
Address basic customer queries or escalate concerns to the appropriate team.

This dual-role position offers the opportunity to contribute to sustainable recycling practices while gaining diverse experience in both driving and operational support.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Qualifications
Essential

Valid UK driving license (Category B).

Desirable

Certification in Manual Handling, Health & Safety, or COSHH.

Technical Competencies
Essential

Safe operation of light commercial vehicles.
Basic knowledge of recycling and waste management practices

Desirable

Understanding of WEEE regulations and handling procedures.

Behavioural Competencies
Essential

Team-oriented with strong communication skills.
Reliable, self-motivated, and attentive to detail

Desirable

Customer-focused with a proactive problem-solving attitude

Experience
Essential

Experience in driving or manual labour roles.

Desirable

Previous experience in waste management or recycling operations

Physical Demands

Essential

Ability to lift and handle heavy items safely.
Comfortable working in various weather conditions and physical environments

Job Requirements

Monday to Friday
40 hours per week
8am to 5pm
Eligible for Overtime
