About the role:
The GEDI is a Registered Nurse who demonstrates advanced and expanded clinical skills, knowledge and high level of capacity to translate these into contemporary evidence based emergent clinical care to older people who present to the Emergency Department. The role is required to work Monday to Friday 0800 – 1630.
You're responsible for ensuring that all health services you provide align with your education, meet legal standards, and adhere to professional guidelines. In your role as GEDI CNS you will be able to demonstrate the ability to apply specialised knowledge of contemporary advanced nursing practice and theory in emergent and geriatric nursing and to participate directly and indirectly in the delivery of clinical care.

Skills and experience:
Adhering to the Nursing Council of New Zealand's Code of Conduct and competencies, you'll demonstrate:
- Sound judgment and accountability for your actions, prioritizing patient safety, independence, and quality of life.
- Effective communication with patients and team members, ensuring clear documentation.
- Evaluation of care effectiveness and advocacy for nursing perspectives within the team.
- Provision of evidence-based health education and guidance to empower patients and families in making informed decisions.
- Accurate documentation and maintenance of privacy.
- Support for the professional development of colleagues, including new staff, graduates, and nursing students.
- Willingness to take on additional responsibilities as assigned, agreed upon with your manager.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development, maintaining competence through a Professional Development Recognition Programme (PDRP) portfolio within the first year of employment.
