Description:
About the role

The GIS Officer plays a key role in maintaining accurate and reliable spatial records of East Gippsland Water’s assets. This position supports our commitment to excellence in asset management and drives innovation in how we collect, manage, and enhance spatial data systems.

As part of a forward-thinking technology team, the GIS Officer works closely with both capital and operational teams to align spatial data practices with business processes. This is a great opportunity for someone passionate about digital transformation and making a meaningful impact on infrastructure and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer and enhance GIS platforms to support asset management, planning, engineering, incident response, and customer service.
  • Lead the design and implementation of new GIS systems aligned with the Corporation’s ICT strategy.
  • Ensure seamless integration of GIS with other corporate systems and adapt to evolving organisational needs.
  • Provide application support and assist with data maintenance to strengthen the organisation’s digital capability.
  • Collaborate across teams to promote GIS use and foster a culture of data literacy and innovation.

  • This role has been classified as per our Enterprise Agreement as a Band 3-4 position, ($83,811.38 to $103,808.81 per annum)
  • Plus 12% employer superannuation contribution. We reserve the right to remunerate successful candidates within the span of this classification dependant on demonstrated skills, experience and qualifications.
  • Shortlisted applicants may be required to undertake a pre-employment medical and National Police Check.
Skills and Experiences:
A qualification in Geomatics or Cartography and/or demonstrated experience working in a GIS administration and/or development environment.
Effective customer service skills including the ability to work in and utilise a team- based approach to achieve outcomes.
Well-developed interpersonal skills combined with good verbal and writing skills ensuring the ability to work effectively with people at all organisational levels, in and outside of East Gippsland Water.
Effective time management skills combined with the ability to prioritise to ensure quality outcomes during times of peak activity.
Experience and ability in problem solving.
A positive attitude toward personal development and knowledge of East Gippsland Water and/or the water industry.
