We are currently seeking to employ a GIS Technician to our Customer Delivery team based in Albany. In this role, you will capture, verify and maintain network data in a Geographical Information System (GIS). Provide mentoring to GIS updaters within the team. Provide GIS support to user community and assist in quality assurance.

- Capturing as built data into GIS accurately and promptly.
- Verifying all data in GIS, including data captured by other GIS staff, using quality assurance techniques.
- Supporting the GIS community in the use and functionality of the GIS application.
- Capturing landbase and network assets using GPS data collection and processing.
- Undertaking data enhancement activities within the GIS, troubleshoot and support help desk on data issues.
- Working independently, with the ability to lead within the team.
- Showing initiative and suggest process improvements.
- Using SAP to update job status and completion.
- Ability to confidently train GIS updaters within the team.
- Ability to guide field staff in data requirements to make the updating process seamless.
Qualifications and Skills
- A formal qualification in Geography or Draughting is preferred.
- A high level of understanding of general work practices in the installation of electricity network assets and the operation of distribution systems.
- Understanding of spatial database structures and maintenance data capture standards and processes.
- 3+ years of work experience GIS data as a GIS Updater.
- Knowledge of cadastral land bases.
- Computer literacy in relevant applications, particularly GIS Smallworld & CAD DXF (Microstation and Autocad).
- The ability to confidently update complex projects.
- Strong skills in data auditing tools.
- Accuracy and attention to detail and thorough understanding of quality assurance techniques and standards compliance
