Job Description

The Bridge Project seeks to give every baby in the US a fair start in life. Launched in June 2021 by The Monarch Foundation, The Bridge Project (TBP) is a 501(c)3 organization that supports household stability, maternal health, and healthy infant development through the provision of consistent, unrestricted direct cash to low-income mothers and children.

The Bridge Project is currently serving more than 3000 babies and their mothers in several states including New York, Wisconsin, Connecticut, West Virgina, Ohio, Kentucky, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Nebraska.

We are on our way to solving child poverty, and we are doing it with dignity, trust, and cash. The Bridge Project has been profiled in The New York Times, CBS, NY1-Spectrum News, Bloomberg, Live with Kelly and Ryan, and MarketWatch, among others. The Bridge Project was additionally one of Fast Company’s World Changing Ideas of 2022.

Job Summary

The quantitative research assistant will be a key member of the research team and will be involved in research projects across the institution. Under the supervision of the Research Director, the candidate will work collaboratively with Bridge team members and research partners. Ideal candidates will have documented experience working with quantitative data and a strong interest in applying their skill set to help solve child poverty, maternal health, child health, and well-being. The candidate will be someone creative, meticulous, enjoys analyzing survey data, administrative data… The position will be based in New York City. The candidate must have strong analytical, organizational skills, and time management skills. Interpersonal skills are also paramount to ensure effective interaction with supervisors, colleagues, and partners.

Position Description

· Support participants’ enrollment in studies.

· Conduct quantitative data collection per study protocol.

· Conduct data coding, queries, quality control, and analysis.

· Prepare timely data reporting and manuscripts as needed.

· Produce timely progress reports on recruitment, retention, and data collection with supervisor.

· Support research operations and logistics.

· Assist with institutional review board documentation and review as requested.

· Support retention strategies for study participants as needed.

· Attend research meetings and any other meetings requested by the supervisor.

· Orient interns or other staff members when needed.

· Perform other duties as requested.

Expected Skills

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Stata, R, and Qualtrics is required.

· Proficiency with SAS, and Arc-GIS is a must.

· Knowledge of various quantitative research methods and statistical techniques

· Exposure to qualitative methods is a must.

· Experience in using citation manager programs such as Endnote, Zotero, or Mendeley

· Excellent oral and written communication skills.

· Ability to communicate important issues as they arise to the supervisor.

· Ability to work effectively and professionally with team members, partners, and clients.

· Ability to work effectively independently and collaboratively within a team.

· Flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment and conform to shifting priorities and timelines.

· Ability to work with sensitive information, maintain confidentiality, and respect ethical requirements.

· Willingness to learn new techniques, procedures, and processes and to use new platforms as needed.

· Knowledge and commitment to concepts and issues tied to social justice, diversity, inclusion, and equity.

· Knowledge and understanding of commonly used concepts and practices in the field of maternal health, child health, and well-being, cash allowances are a must.

Basic qualifications

· 2+ years of relevant experience is required; a combination of education and experience may be considered.

· 2+ years of experience with statistical packages, namely Stata and R, is required.

· Master's degree in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, economics, is required. Bachelor’s degree currently pursuing a master’s or doctoral program in one of the previous fields will be considered.

This is a hybrid, full-time position based in New York City.

The Bridge Project offices are based in Lower Manhattan and are accessible via the A, C, E, and 1 subway trains. The in-person work will take place at the TBP office and/or at partners'/research collaborators' sites of work. TBP offers $70,000 – $75,000 annually for this position, commensurate with experience, in addition to an attractive suite of employee benefits including employer retirement contributions and fully-paid health insurance.
