Position Title: Greenhouse Nursery Worker

Location: Napanee, Ontario

Contract Duration: Full-time, seasonal

From April 13, 2026 to Novembre 4, 2026

Hours: 40 hours per week

Wage: $19 per hour

Jplant is a propagation nursery located just north of the 401 in Greater Napanee, Ontario. We propagate bamboo, ornamental grasses, perennials, vines, flowering shrubs and fruit bearing for sale to the public and the commercial market. We make all sales online and ship to clients thus there is no public customer relations on site.

We are currently seeking a motivated, hard-working individual with an interest in horticulture and plant propagation. This is an opportunity to learn best practices in plant propagation and greenhouse management, as well as learn about over 1000 different plant species and varieties. We are a growing company and are interested in investing in hard working individuals for future employment.

Job Description

• Work with a small nursery team
• Propagate plants by cuttings or division
• Transplanting seedlings and rooted cuttings
• Pruning
• Weeding
• Prepare orders for shipping
• May assist with pesticide/fungicide (Friday evenings)

Qualifications

• Education and/or experience in horticulture or a related field is an asset
• Quick learner and able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Responsible and able to work independently
• Organized and detail oriented
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a small team
• Able to complete tasks efficiently and on schedule
• Able to understand and follow directions exactly as given
• Health and Safety mindfulness
• Valid G class drivers license (or able to arrange reliable transportation to the nursery)
• Fitness: A variety of tasks require workers to stay in one position over long periods of time: standing, kneeling, sitting. Able to safely lift up to 40lbs on occasion.
• Ability to work outdoors in hot sun, rain, and cold fall weather.

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday

Job will run until August 29th, 2025 (extension until October depending on needs).
