Pay: $16/hr (.50 to $1 raise after successful 90-day completion period and based on apptitude/performance)

Job Description: Pure Green Farms is currently seeking a Full Time, Second Shift (430pm to midnight) Greenhouse/Machine Operator Team Member who is responsible for operating automated seeding and planting machinery and mechanical processes necessary to initiate and support the growth cycle of our leafy green lettuce. Candidates will be scheduled on a 10-hour, 4pm to close shift that rotates and will include weekend days.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Operate, control and monitor settings of automated process machinery and associated computer software programs that initiate the sow/seeding growth cycle
• Operate machinery and equipment according to instructions, adjusting when necessary to improve performance
• Troubleshoot issues and perform maintenance
• Ensure different seed/crop varieties are assigned to their correct planting location
• Maintains appropriate moisture levels of growing crop
• Perform quality control, follow reporting and record keeping procedures, and report problems to supervisor
• Assist in general data collection, growing, food safety, and other growth cycle tasks relevant to plant science
• Clean machinery and maintain cleanliness in work area; maintain a sanitary environment by applying sanitizers at a concentration recommended by the manufacturer.
• Conduct and support basic preventative maintenance of equipment.
• Ensure all growing spaces are swept, and kept clean and sanitized at all times for inspection for food safety.
• Additional duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Must have manual dexterity and ability to operate process machinery and maintain repetitive processes
• Must be a detail-oriented, self starter
• Self-motivated, reliable, punctual, open-minded, and positive attitude a must
• Occasional forklift operation may be required
• Learning and following all food safety and quality policies and procedures
• Ability to make critical decisions quickly and repeatedly
• Ability to adapt and to be responsive in the face of changing and evolving order demands
• Ability to make changes as needed without advance notice
• Former experience in garden, greenhouse, or agricultural setting a plus

Working Conditions:

• Position requires sitting, standing, and walking on a regular basis for prolonged periods
• Must be able to lift 40 lbs

Education/Experience:

• Previous machine operating experience in a manufacturing facility, or similar relevant experience, not mandatory but preferred
• Passion for horticulture and agriculture and a passion for maintaining safe and pristine natural growing environments
• Forklift, tractor, or farm equipment operator experience/training is a plus
• Former experience in garden, greenhouse or agricultural settings a plus

Pay: From $16.00 per hour
