EDUCATION
- Food Technology / Science education or equivalent from University/College. Preferences will be given to Canadian University Bachelors’ degree.
- Successful completion of Implementation of HACCP System course and SQF training course is an asset.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a similar position in the food industry
- Thorough experience in the development, implementation and maintenance of HACCP system and SQF program
- Familiar with hosting third party audits and conducting mock recalls
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Knowledge of Quality Systems (SQF, SPC, 6 Sigma) is an asset
- Knowledge of poultry or similar product processing processes would be an asset
- Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset
- Knowledge of HACCP and audit principles
- Above average verbal and written communication skills.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the development, implementation maintenance of food safety plan, food quality plan and SQF system
- Ensure that all work is performed according to pertinent GMP, HACCP, SQF, CFIA, Safety and all established regulations.
- Maintain HACCP System and SQF Program
- Coordinate with departmental team members in improving the HACCP, SQF2000 System
- Host third part regulatory / system audits including audits by CFIA
- Communicate and coordinate efforts with government agencies, CFIA inspectors and auditors, contractors and customers
- Facilitate monthly HACCP Committee meetings, including agenda preparation and minute completion. Follow-up on all action items to ensure closure
- Conduct internal audits to validate the effectiveness of the HACCP, PCP and Quality System
- Perform monthly sanitation audits
- Organize, maintain and support HACCP, prerequisite programs, pest control programs and recall system
- Perform reassessment of the HACCP, PCP requirements against CFIA Appendix/Guideline
- Perform mock recall to ensure that the recall system is current and effective. Coordinate with Corporate and external agencies, as required
- Provide HACCP training to new employee and refresher to current employees
- Maintain and support Quality Systems, policies, procedures and specifications
- Investigate all HACCP-related issues and work with plant personnel in determining root cause
- Maintain CFIA SIP Inspections report files, and ensure non-conformances issues are follow-up and close
- Provide support to plant and office personnel in areas pertinent to HACCP program
- Act as one of the main contacts in the event of a product recall
