Hardware Store Assistant Manager & Stihl Salesperson

East Bay Hardware is a small, locally-owned hardware store that's been at the heart of downtown life for almost 40 years. We're looking for a full time (35-40 hours per week) Assistant Manager & Stihl Salesperson.

The ideal person for this position is detail-oriented and proactive but must be able to take regular direction from the Operating Manager, as well as learning about Stihl and Stihl updates from the Stihl Mechanic.

Landscaping, power tools, small engine experience and/or outdoor power equipment experience or interest is helpful, but not required, however the ability to start large, commercial chainsaws, which requires upper body strength, is required.

Stihl certified sales training will be provided.

Being able to work well with a variety of personalities is a requirement for this role.

Training and free on-site parking is provided, and the store is conveniently located near the Citadel I-26 exit and a bus stop.

Employee tasks:

• Proactively recognize things that need to be done around the store and update the daily task list every day; ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner by staff
• Be detail-oriented
• Handle customer service and employee issues that arise
• Ensure the store stays organized and neat
• Receive weekly product shipments
• Help create weekly orders and learn to place orders (must be comfortable with computers)
• Answer customer questions regarding Stihl products
• Demonstrate Stihl products for customers
• Sell Stihl products
• Make keys
• Mix paint
• Cut glass
• Operate cash register and assist customers
• Restock shelves and help unload weekly shipments

Hiring Qualifications:

• Able to lift 65 lbs.
• Able to regularly start large chainsaws
• Able to stand for long periods of time
• Able to climb ladders and stairs
• Have reliable transportation
• Pass a background check
• Ability to use basic computer programs

Employee shifts:

• 7-9 hours daily between 7:30 am-6pm Monday-Friday and 8am-5pm on Saturdays (we're closed on Sunday.)

Please note: the store has 2 cats and allows customers to bring in leashed dogs.
