A.J. Martin & Sons is a family-owned site services and construction company working across the GTA. We provide excavation, grading, site servicing, demolition, and related civil construction services for residential, commercial, and industrial clients.

Position Overview

We are seeking a reliable Haul Truck / Rock Truck Operator to support our site crews on various construction and site servicing projects throughout the GTA. The ideal candidate is hardworking, safety-focused, and able to work well as part of a team in a fast-paced, outdoor environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain 40-ton haul/rock trucks, complete daily inspections and operator checklists, identify and report equipment defects, and safely transport materials while following site safety procedures.
• Assist equipment operators and site crews with:
• Excavation, backfilling, and grading tasks
• Perform general labour duties, including:
• Shovelling, raking, compacting, and site clean-up
• Loading/unloading tools, materials, and equipment
• Placing and removing traffic control and safety signage as directed
• Concrete flat works (forming, pouring, and finishing)
• Use hand and power tools safely and correctly.
• Follow instructions from the Foreman, Operators, and Site Supervisors.
• Assist with basic setup and tear-down of work areas.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site and equipment cabin.
• Adhere to all company policies and health & safety regulations (OHSA, MOL).

Qualifications

• Previous construction experience operating haul/rock trucks preferred, but motivated entry-level candidates will be considered.
• Ability to safely operate haul/rock trucks, including reversing, dumping, maneuvering, and transporting materials in active construction environments.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work (lifting, carrying, bending, working on uneven ground, in various weather conditions).
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work full days with the possibility of overtime.
• Comfortable working around heavy equipment and following safety procedures.
• Valid Ontario driver’s license and reliable transportation to sites across the GTA are strong assets.
• Basic knowledge of construction tools and practices is an asset.
• Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learn.
