Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Salary: $18.01 per hour

Qualifications / Experience

  • Two-year Associates degree in social work, public administration, or related field
  • Two (2) years’ experience in public housing, counseling or social work (Preferred); or an equivalent combination of education and experience to be able to fulfill the essential job duties of the position.
  • Skilled in communicating with all types of people in a wide variety of situations
  • Considerable experience in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, general office machines, and applicable software packages
  • Knowledge of pertinent finance and banking principles and practices (Preferred).
  • Must be able to meet attendance requirements
  • Must possess a valid State of Mississippi driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.

Job Summary

The HCV FSS Coordinator is responsible for developing and delivering a broad range of counseling and referral services for low-income participants in the Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program to help them move toward self-sufficiency and achieve their program goals, thereby reducing their need for subsidized programs and services. These tasks are to be performed at a level that supports the Agency’s efforts to achieve the highest rating on HUD’s evaluation system.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts needs assessment.
  • Provides, or provides for, participant counseling in life skills areas including parenting, employment, education, financial management, public assistance, nutrition, etc.
  • Assists FSS participants in preparing applications and forms for school grants, scholarships, etc.
  • Locates testing facilities to help FSS participants in choosing a career field and in job placement.
  • Responds courteously to calls, written requests, and e-mails from participants, service providers, and other authorized agencies and representatives to answer questions and provide information and assistance.
  • Prepares and mails statements to FSS Participants showing their account balances at least annually.
  • Must work with the highest degree of confidentiality.
  • Develop effective methods necessary to monitor and track the progress of the FSS Program and FSS Program participants.
