About Us

Beach Hotel, Downings is a family run 3* hotel situated in the village of Downings, Co Donegal. We are looking for an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead our kitchen team and maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and kitchen operations. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with excellent culinary skills, creativity, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established hotel in the heart of Donegal’s beautiful coastal region.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all kitchen operations
• Develop and maintain high-quality menus and daily specials
• Ensure consistent food quality, presentation, and portion control
• Manage kitchen staff, including training, scheduling, and performance
• Maintain food safety, hygiene, and HACCP standards
• Monitor inventory, ordering, and food cost control
• Work closely with management to improve operations and customer satisfaction
• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment
• Handle busy service periods calmly and effectively

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Excellent knowledge of food preparation and kitchen operations
• Understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Passion for quality food and customer service
• Culinary qualifications are preferred
