Leading the strategic, commercial, and consumer proposition of BBC Studios’ streaming and channels portfolio across Australia and New Zealand — including BBC-branded linear services, FAST channels and BritBox Australia.
This role is responsible for driving subscriber and audience growth, managing operational performance, and overseeing content, partnerships, and marketing to ensure the sustained success of BritBox Australia and BBC Studios’ partner-based services in a highly competitive landscape.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in digital media & platform leadership, an entrepreneurial mindset, and a proven ability to lead teams and deliver growth in a fast-changing entertainment environment.
- Responsible for the strategic direction, growth and increased profitability of BritBox Australia.
- Leading a multi-functional team spanning Programing, Marketing and be the key contact for central Britbox Product, Tech, & Data teams based in London and NY.
- Drive growth and profitability by leading third party negotiations e.g. telcos, for distribution and partnering with central teams on our global platform strategies (eg. Amazon, Apple etc)
Strategic and Commercial Leadership
- Lead and grow existing channels and branded services, sustaining audience engagement and commercial performance while identifying new opportunities for BBC Studios’ brands and content in market.
- Identify and drive new growth opportunities through data-led performance management, content innovation, platform expansion, and audience diversification.
- Lead annual business planning, budget management, and performance reporting.
- Lead commercial negotiations with major platform partners (Foxtel, Fetch, Stan, Sky NZ, Paramount, etc.) to secure distribution, marketing and revenue commitments.
- Deliver financial, audience and brand targets for BBC Studios’ ANZ channels and streaming portfolio
Content & Programming
- Collaborate with the Head of Programming to develop and execute the content strategy across Britbox and BBC branded services including acquisitions, and scheduling to secure the best possible programming mix to drive audiences, enhance brand identity that complies with BBC Studios and local regulations.
- Oversee Creative Services to ensure on-brand, effective promotion and presentation of all branded services in the most cost-effective way possible.
Marketing & Audience Growth
- Lead the marketing, and publicity function to develop strategies to grow awareness, conversion, and retention across services.
- Champion digital performance marketing, PR, social engagement, and audience analytics.
Leadership and Culture
- Lead and develop a multi-disciplinary team (Programming, Marketing, Creative Services) to deliver a high-performance culture.
- Build collaboration across BBC Studios divisions (Production, Brands & Licensing, Content Sales) to maximise the value of our IP.
Governance and Compliance
- Ensure robust financial controls, reporting and operational governance in line with BBC Studios policies.
- Maintain BBC Studios’ reputation for editorial integrity and brand excellence across all services and platforms.
- Deep commercial and editorial expertise within multi-platform TV and streaming businesses.
- Proven success in P&L management, strategic partnership development and contract negotiation.
- Strong understanding of ANZ media ecosystem and global streaming trends.
- Ability to translate strategy into clear objectives and measurable delivery plans.
- Outstanding leadership and stakeholder management skills in a matrix environment.
