We are searching for Head of Compliance Operations for our client ideally in Amsterdam or London.

Scope

• Lead our Compliance Operations team to make sure we keep bad actors out and legit users in; efficiently, effectively, and always with a user-first mindset.

• Oversee the entirety of ComOps; AML, EDD, Account Restriction (Guardianship, Garnishments, Bankruptcy), Regulatory Reporting, etc

• Design and implement an AI-first approach to Compliance Ops + lead with an engineering mindset: fix problems structurally, automate what can be automated, and eliminate manual noise.

• Constantly ask: “Where in the law does it say that?”

• Act as the ultimate escalation point for complex or sensitive cases.

• Relentlessly puts the user first.

Profile

• Seasoned: 13+ years of experience in compliance, fraud prevention, AML, MLRO, Financial Regulation, Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) or financial crime ops - ideally in fintech, payments, or challenger banking.

• Has built and led ops teams across multiple functions or jurisdictions.

• Knows how to scale: has scaled ops teams and rebuilt systems; not just kept them running.

• Has a backbone and a brain - knows the law well enough to question policy and build smarter ones.

• Loves moving fast and solving problems, not hiding behind policy.

• A real people manager, clear communicator and someone with high expectations

• Sharp under pressure, has seen some sh*t and is not easily phased

• Has worked with regulators (AFM, DNB, FCA, etc.) and knows how to translate between ops and legal.

• Has worked in a scale-up or high-growth environment before

• Intrinsically motivated by implementing AI
