- Main scope of corporate clients includes large South Korean diversified corporations across a range of industries (including Construction, Services, Manufacturing, Electronics and Retail) and the Korean subsidiaries of ING corporate clients based in Asia, Europe or the US.
- The team also actively supports our dedicated Sector Coverage teams for lending transactions in Korea in sectors such as FI, Commodities, Food & Agriculture, Energy, Transportation and Logistics and TMT & Healthcare.Work closely with our coverage teams in Seoul to originate and expand our business with prospective and existing clients, with a focus on offering lending products.
- Advise corporate clients on the best structure for their borrowings in client meetings and calls and negotiate the terms of loans offered by the bank to our clients.
- Establish and strengthen ING’s market presence and enhance its profile through effective internal and external communication.
- Work with counterparts in other countries and with ING’s sector and other product experts, notably in Financial Markets and Transactions Services (trade financing activities).
- Manage the credit approval process for lending, trade finance and financial market limits, ensuring follow-up on post-approval conditions and covenants where the CSL team head acts as the main point of entry for the Risk Manager.
- Responsible for the negotiation of loan documentation and trade finance documentation with clients, in close collaboration with the coverage team, Risk and Legal (if required, with outside legal counsel)
- Ensure appropriate portfolio management through monitoring of the performance of companies in the portfolio, including identifying Early Warning Signals for a deterioration in credit quality and performing annual reviews. This includes responsibility for the quality of his/her credit files (costs, actual losses (co-responsibility), data quality, effectiveness, accuracy/efficiency, timeliness).
- Keep track of market developments for lending in the jurisdictions and/or sectors covered to be able to adapt and respond to current events and changes in market circumstances.
- Performance management of the team, including target setting and mid- and year-end performance reviews.
- Responsible for meeting performance targets (both financial and non-financial), including revenue generation and cost control and to work in conjunction with the Head of Lending in Seoul to achieve the KPIs for the broader Lending team.
- To lead the team and guide and develop team members. Ensures the team is working effectively and look after its continuity and succession. Drive employee engagement.
- Overseeing and being accountable for the team’s quality of work.
- To comply with (and make sure the team complies with) relevant credit and non-financial risk policies as well as other policies and regulations, as per the bank’s 3LOD governance framework.
- To ensure that business activities are conducted in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.
- Change management, where required under relevant WB transformation/change strategies.
- Act as the single point of contact for lending related projects, policy changes, etc. and communicate to all other lending teams within the branch as/when required.
- University degree major in business/economics, law or relevant business discipline.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience with proven track record in in relationship management, corporate lending, credit risk or structured finance.
- Strong negotiating, relationship management and sales / presentation skills.
- Strong clients focus and proven ability in stakeholder management (both internally and externally).
- Result oriented, comfortable with driving financial performance, such as revenues, fees, and returns.
- Strategic thinking skills, with ability to synthesize broad information quickly and cogently.
- Strong analytical skills (financial/credit) and an eye for detail.
- Is self-motivated, “Hands-on” and possesses a positive and “can do” attitude.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to handle pressure and tight deadlines.
- Team player with good interpersonal skills.
- Effective communicator who is fluent in English.
