Do you want to play a vital role in strengthening COWI’s position and excellent deliverables within bridges and concrete structures? Are you motivated by setting direction and leading a high-performing team of professionals? Then join us as our new Head of Discipline for Concrete Bridges in Lyngby, where you will apply your technical and interpersonal skills to develop people, contribute to strong projects, and help shape the future of major structures in Denmark and beyond.

Set the course for the future
As Head of Discipline for Concrete Bridges, you will lead an established team of approximately 20–25 structural engineers in Lyngby. The discipline is part of the Major Structures Unit, where we work across a range of structural specialisations, including bridges, tunnels, concrete, and steel structures. In this role, you will be responsible for setting direction, developing people, supporting collaboration across the unit, and ensuring high technical quality and strong project delivery.

You will refer directly to Silvia Finazzi, Head of Engineering, and work closely with her and the six other HoD’s in the Major Structures Unit, to secure growth and development for your talented employees and for COWI altogether.

The role is divided into both the leadership responsibilities and being an active resource in complex projects within concrete bridges and major structures, as a Specialist, Discipline Lead or Project Manager.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Day-to-day people management of ~20–25 employees
  • Executing on strategic focus areas
  • Setting clear goals for performance and development of your employees, including onboarding activities and individual development plans
  • Provide support and feedback for both team and peers
  • Driving an engaged and motivated team with high retention
  • Contribute to great completion of projects
  • Deliver technical knowledge and/or project management

Your skills. Our team. Together we design the future
Like us, you believe that leadership success comes from setting a clear and meaningful direction for your team and supporting them in taking ownership of their work. You delegate responsibility and ensure an open and safe dialogue, and you coach your people to achieve their aspirations through constructive, fact-based feedback. Leading a diverse group of high-performing and engaged team members is at the top of your agenda, as well as creating an inclusive and trusting culture in your team.

To thrive in this position, we believe you have an open-minded and solution-focused attitude where you inspire and develop people while supporting high work engagement among your employees. In addition to this, you take responsibility in projects, play an important part of the project team and keep a professional collaboration with our clients. You thrive in a complex environment by keeping close customer and employee relations.

On top of that, you will have:

  • Extensive experience within concrete bridges or similar structures in Denmark or Scandinavia, either as a specialist, generalist or project manager or a combination hereof. Alternatively, you might have a background as a contractor or an infrastructure owner.
  • Good insight into overseeing teams and project management skills on a prominent level
  • A degree in civil or structural engineering, or a similar relevant background
  • Communication skills in both Danish and English (verbal and written)
