The Regional Head of Sales is a results-driven and strategic senior sales professional who will lead our commercial operations in the assigned region. This senior-level role will oversee a team of Sales Executives, responsible for driving revenue across all three core product lines for Cengage: Higher Education, English Language Teaching (National Geographic Learning), and Library/Research Solutions (GALE). As the local market leader, this role will play a critical role in shaping the commercial strategy, building strong customer relationships, and driving the shift toward digital sales within the assigned region and also more broadly across EMEA.
**The post holder for this role can be based in the Netherlands, Germany, Italy or the United Kingdom**
What you'll do here:
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing sales team across multiple verticals (Higher Education, English Language Teaching, Library/Research).
  • Lead the regional and country-level sales strategy and execution to exceed annual revenue and growth targets.
  • Drive the adoption of digital solutions while maintaining strong performance in the print business.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with marketing, product, customer success, and revenue operations teams to align go-to-market efforts and enhance customer experience.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with key institutional customers across all vertical markets, including universities, language schools, research libraries and local / national government agencies.
  • Provide regular sales forecasting, pipeline management, and performance reporting to the Senior Director, Sales – EMEA.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies, pricing strategies, and ethical standards.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and customer engagements.
Skills you will need here:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required, advanced degree in Business, Education, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of sales or commercial experience in education publishing, EdTech or related industries.
  • Minimum of 5 years of sales management experience, consistently leading and motivating sales teams to deliver results. Second-line sales management (managing Sales Managers) experience preferred.
  • Experience selling digital products and leading digital transformation initiatives.
  • Deep understanding of the Higher Education, English Language Teaching, and/or library research markets preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Data-driven with strong analytical and forecasting capabilities.
  • Ability to travel extensively within the region as needed, with occasional travel within the wider EMEA & International region to attend Cengage sales conferences and managers meetings etc.
