Lead student wellbeing and foster a culture of belonging
South Coast Baptist College (SCBC) is seeking a passionate and relational Christian educator to join our Student Wellbeing Team as a Head of Year. This important leadership position is ideal for someone who is committed to supporting the spiritual, emotional, and academic development of young people while fostering a safe, caring, and connected school environment.
SCBC is an independent, co-educational school that serves families in the southern metropolitan regions of Perth and beyond. The College provides inspired, innovative, and exemplary Christian education, empowering students to reach their purpose.

About the role
The Head of Year is responsible for leading the pastoral care, wellbeing, discipline, and student support of a designated year group within the Secondary School.
Working collaboratively with students, staff, parents, and external stakeholders, the successful applicant will help create an environment where students feel known, supported, and challenged to grow in character, leadership, and faith.
This role includes a reduced teaching load to support the pastoral and leadership responsibilities of the position.

Key responsibilities
- Lead and support the pastoral care and wellbeing of students within a year group
- Build positive relationships with students, families, and staff
- Support student wellbeing, behaviour management, and academic engagement
- Lead and mentor Homeroom Teachers within the year group
- Contribute to the development and delivery of wellbeing and pastoral care programs
- Monitor student attendance, wellbeing, and behavioural trends
- Liaise with internal and external support services to ensure students receive appropriate care
- Contribute actively to College events, camps, assemblies, and student leadership initiatives
- Promote restorative practices and a positive culture of belonging
About you
- Passionate about student wellbeing and Christian education
- Experienced in pastoral care, student management, or wellbeing support
- Strong communicator with excellent relational and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate, proactive, and able to support students with empathy and fairness
- Highly organised and able to manage multiple responsibilities effectively
- Able to foster strong team culture and student belonging
- Positive, energetic, and approachable in nature
- Committed to upholding the values and mission of the College
Essential requirements
- Current Teacher Registration Board of WA (TRBWA) registration
- Working With Children Check
- A personal faith and commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ
- Active participation in a church or Christian community, exemplifying Christian beliefs, behaviour, and practices
- Acceptance of the College’s Statement of Faith
- Ability to build cooperative and supportive relationships with the Board, Principal, staff, students, and parents
- Commitment to personal best practice
- Ensure decisions are impartial, fact-based, and fair
- Model appropriate and proper channels of communication
- Consistently act in the best interests of the College and its ethos
- Adherence to all policies and procedures outlined by SCBC
- Commitment to maintaining a child-safe environment in line with the College’s values and policies
