Head Sushi Chef

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and a deep appreciation for Japanese cuisine. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that meet our restaurant's standards and delight our customers. Your expertise in knife skills, food handling, and safety practices will be essential in maintaining the highest level of quality and hygiene in our kitchen.

Duties

• Prepare sushi rice, seafood, and vegetables with precision and care.
• Create a variety of sushi rolls, sashimi, and nigiri to meet customer orders.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi preparation area.
• Ensure all food handling and safety regulations are followed to prevent contamination.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service during peak hours.
• Assist in menu development by suggesting new sushi items or seasonal specials.
• Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and communicate needs to management.
• Train and mentor junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within the food industry.
• Strong knowledge of food safety standards and practices.
• Proficient knife skills with experience in food preparation techniques.
• Familiarity with various types of fish and seafood used in sushi making.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
• Excellent attention to detail and presentation skills.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Previous experience in catering or dietary aide roles is a plus.
