Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child Caregiver to join our team in caring for children with special needs in their own homes. As a caregiver for children with various physical disabilities, cognitive disabilities, and/or medical needs, you will be responsible for creating a safe and nurturing environment for children in our care. Your role will involve providing personal care and assistance with activities of daily living, engaging with children, providing age and ability-appropriate activities, and ensuring their well-being.
**We currently have an opening with a child with significant medical needs including G-TUBE, FRAGILE AIRWAY, ORAL SUCTION as needed, poor mobility, limited communication. Experience with similar medical needs is required.
Available Shifts : A variety of week day shifts, and weekend shifts. There are additional opportunities to work with other families as well, as fits into your schedule.
Duties:
- Assist children with daily care and routines, such as mealtime, naptime, and toileting
- Maintain a clean and organized childcare space
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's progress and any concerns that may arise
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in your care
Skills:
- Experience with children: Previous experience working or volunteering with children
- Caregiving: Ability to provide nurturing care to children with special needs, meeting their physical, emotional, and social needs.
- Early childhood education: Knowledge of child development principles and age-appropriate activities. Knowledge of "Triple P Parenting" principles is an asset.
- Educate: Ability to engage children in educational activities that promote their cognitive, physical, and social development.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Background check clearance including Vulnerable Sector Check
- Excellent communication skills
- Patience, compassion, and a genuine love for working with children
-preference given to candidates with experience caring for children with special needs, candidates with nursing or medical background, and to candidates with relevant educational courses/certificates.
