About the Role
As a Health Care Assistant you will be part of our dedicated nursing environment with full support. Your role is to work within the team to assist nursing staff in care delivery, one-to-one patient watches and other tasks as directed.
We have a permanent position working 0.9FTE (72 hours a fortnight) rostered and rotating Monday to Sunday. Shift times are Morning Shift 0700-1530H, Afternoon Shift 1445-2315H and Night Shift 2245-0715H.
About the Team/Service
The Nelson ICCU is a close and supportive team that works well together to provide the best outcomes for the patients and whānau that we care for. We have a nine bed unit that caters to ICU, Coronary Care and High Dependency patients and the successful candidate will provide care for all of these patients. Each day brings something new with opportunities to learn and grow. Our team has regular social gatherings that make the most of living in this beautiful area of New Zealand and we welcome new members to the team.
About You
- We are looking for people with a mature outlook, the ability to get on with a wide variety of people and who have excellent communication skills.
- You will need the ability to work in a flexible and methodical manner, demonstrate honesty and reliability, and use appropriate initiative.
- Experience within the health sector is preferred, but is not essential as full training will be provided.
Qualifications
Essential
- Year 11 NCEA level 1 English (or equivalent)
- Year 11 NCEA level 1 Maths (or equivalent)
- NZQA level 3 qualification (or equivalent)*
Desirable
- Home Carer Certificate (or equivalent)
Mandatory requirement
- NZQA Level 3: New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing - Health Assistance Strand, if not previously obtained, is to be commenced once orientations have been attended.
