About the Role

Bay of Plenty – Hauora a Toi are excited to offer a permanent full-time Health Care Assistant position working 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week), Sunday to Monday in the Medical Ward based at Whakatāne hospital. This is a wonderful opportunity to be part of a high-performing and collaborative team caring for acutely unwell medical patients in a busy and rewarding ward environment.

As a Health Care Assistant, you will work under the direction of our friendly, motivated nursing team, assisting with personal care, mobility, monitoring, and general clinical support. Every shift brings variety and a chance to make a real impact on patient comfort, recovery, and dignity.

About you

We are looking for calm, capable, and team-focused individuals who bring energy and compassion to every shift. The ideal candidates will be quick thinkers, great communicators, and eager to contribute to a positive team culture.

What you will bring:

  • Ceritficate in Health Care Assistance Level 3 or 4 (or equivalent).
  • Experience in a healthcare setting or related service.
  • Strong organisation and communication skills, with the ability to remain composed under pressure.
  • A safe, reliable, and patient-centred approach to clinical care.
