Health Technology Assessment Advisor or Senior HTA Advisor | Permanent
Ētahi kōrero mō Te Pātaka Whaioranga | About Te Pātaka Whaioranga Pharmac
At Te Pātaka Whaioranga | Pharmac we endeavour to deliver the best health outcomes for all New Zealanders through investment in medicines and medical devices.
We are a close-knit whānau with around 180 kaimahi. We take pride in what we do, work hard, and have fun along the way.
Mō tēnei tūranga | About the Role
Kua rite koe mō tēnei mahi? Are you ready to make a difference?
We are seeking two Health Technology Assessment (HTA) Advisors, or Senior HTA Advisors, to join our high-performing team.
Our HTA Advisors assist in the management and appraisal of funding applications, including taking applications through the clinical advice process at Pharmac.
- HTA Advisors lead the drafting of clinical advice papers and records for the Pharmacology and Therapeutics Advisory Committee (PTAC) and our Specialist Advisory Committees (SAC). This requires the HTA Advisor to work collaboratively with other Pharmac staff - including Clinical Leads, Therapeutic Group Managers, and Health Economists - to deliver timely products.
- Clinical advice papers and records are structured around Pharmac's assessment and decision-making framework, the Factors for Consideration (FFC). The FFCs are broad, and HTA advisors are expected to develop a thorough understanding of them.
- HTA Advisors are expected to ensure the status of applications are kept up-to-date and engage with stakeholders (including applicants) to keep them informed of any information that Pharmac may need to advance an application.
We are Aotearoa New Zealand's largest health technology assessment team. We work closely with Te Pātaka Whaioranga | Pharmac's clinical advisors and our commercial negotiators. There are also opportunities to lead strategic projects.
This is a real opportunity to be at the core of our operations—helping ensure evidence-based medicine informs Pharmac's objective of securing the best health outcomes that are reasonably achievable within the funding provided. This is also a chance to build our organisational capability and competency.
We prefer full-time, but we may consider a part-time/flexible arrangement for the right candidate.
Mōhou ake | About You
You are an excellent writer, ideally with experience in science or medical writing. You work collaboratively with others to deliver fit-for-purpose products within tight time frames. You can navigate ambiguity to bring clarity to clinical advice reports. You are willing to give and receive feedback, to improve your team and your own performance. You are comfortable with having your work reviewed by multiple staff members.
You are comfortable liaising with senior clinicians, pharmaceutical companies, and patient groups.
You have strong organizational and planning skills, and can efficiently prioritise competing work objectives.
As this is a time-pressured role, applicants will need to be self-driven and able to manage their own work while also working as part of a team. You will be part of our Pharmaceutical Assessment team and supported to learn and succeed in our fast-paced and dynamic workplace.
Joining Te Pātaka Whaioranga | Pharmac
We are a whānau centred organisation and understand the importance of maintaining a healthy work life balance. To support our kaimahi and their whānau we offer:
- Five weeks annual leave
- Additional paid leave for our end of year close-down period
- An annual $500 hauora payment
- Access to subsidised health insurance through Southern Cross
- Paid Parental Leave support in addition to minimum legislative requirements.
- Hybrid working - work from home up to two days per week.
At Te Pātaka Whaioranga we welcome all kaimahi with a mihi whakatau during their first month. For kaimahi Māori, we offer mihi whakatau on your first day, where your whānau and manuhiri are welcome to attend. As you come through our waharoa, you will be welcomed into our growing support network - Maōri Caucus.
This role is Pharmac band 7, with an appointment range anticipated to be between $92,639 - $115,799 total remuneration, inclusive of 3% KiwiSaver Employer contribution. The appointment salary is subject to the preferred candidate's relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
We strive to represent Aotearoa and the diverse communities we serve. We are committed to championing workplace inclusion and acknowledge that in order to do their best work, we must foster an environment where people are comfortable to be themselves and work in a way that best suits their individual needs.
We may identify our preferred candidate earlier than the listed closing date of Friday 24 January at 5pm, so if this sounds like your next exciting career move, today!
