Healthcare Assistant - Dunedin Dialysis Unit
  • Dunedin Hospital
  • Salary band - $60,000 - $70,000 p.a pro-rata plus KiwiSaver and penal rates
  • Two permanent roles

About the role

The role of HCA in the Dunedin Dialysis unit is a good fit for someone who is positive, outgoing, flexible, and willing to work with long term patients and can maintain therapeutic relationships.

In this important role, you will help with a range of direct and non-direct patient care tasks under the direction of a Registered Nurse and maintain the department environment to ensure efficient and effective functioning.

This includes the following:

  • Patient watch/supervision and/or movement with one-on-one care
  • Checking Central Reverse Osmosis unit (water treatment plant)
  • Storage and ordering
  • Restocking and setting up of dialysis equipment
  • General department housekeeping
  • Equipment cleaning
  • Supporting our Nurses and other members of the Healthcare team
  • Clerical duties as required
  • Stock reconciliation
  • You will need to be able to commit to rotating rostered shifts,
  • Hours of work are Monday to Saturday 7am - 7.30pm

  • Must hold working rights in New Zealand as this role does not qualify for visa sponsorship

  • Experience working with people from a health setting will be advantageous
  • Moderate level of fitness and agility is required

Salary range

This role belongs to the NZNO Collective Agreement and falls between Step 1 ($60,100 p.a) and Step 5 ($70,358 p.a pro-rata) of the HCA scale.
