About the Role
We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Healthcare Assistant to join our kapa (team).
Healthcare Assistants are instrumental in providing care to patients and supporting the clinical team. As a Healthcare Assistant you will assist nursing staff with patient cares whilst maintaining a safe and clean work environment on the unit.
You will be responsible for:
- Cleaning and disinfection of endoscopes in the reprocessing area.
- Assist with the care of patients in the recovery areas - pre and post procedure

Stock management
Shifts are 8 hours, Monday to Friday starting between 7:30am - 9:30am.
Once you are fully trained on-call afterhours are Saturday 8am to Sunday 8pm, every 4 - 5 weeks.
Salary starting from $60,100 to $70,358 per annum. Based on the NZNO Nursing and Midwifery collective agreement.
About the Service
The Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Unit is a dynamic, patient focused unit. We pride ourselves in being innovative, forward thinking and up to date with technology and change.
The unit undertakes 12,000+ diagnostic and interventional endoscopy procedures per year and provides other gastrointestinal services to the Canterbury population.
About you
We are looking for someone who is technically minded with knowledge of infection control processes. Has the ability to learn quickly and works effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to engage well
- Ability to learn and operate technical equipment
- Effective problem solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a multidisciplinary team
- Experience as a Healthcare Assistant or similar is desirable

An understanding of infection control processes or previous infection control and/or sterile services knowledge experience is desirable
