Your Opportunity:

The Healthcare Security Officer is responsible to enforce established rules, policies and regulations to ensure the safety and protection of people, property, and information. Your assignment will be reflective of the needs of the facility: Security Monitoring (Patient Watch), Access Control, and Static and Roving patrols are a few possibilities. We provide training to prepare you for the role and help you succeed in any situation.

What’s in it for you:

Position:

12-hour shifts on call, Friday (4pm) to Monday (8am)
12 hours shifts: Weekdays/nights as assigned

Rate of Pay:

On Shift: $23.00 per hour
On Call Stipend: $18.00 per shift
On Shift Travel Stipend for outside the region: $18.50 per shift

Your Key Responsibilities:

• Patient Watch: You will be assigned to oversee the safety and security of a patient.
• Hospital Ground Patrols: You will be tasked to educate the public and enforce the Smoke-Free Environment policy and parking regulations through roving patrols.
• Access Control: You will be responsible to monitor entry points and ensure only authorized individuals are permitted to access restricted areas.
• Reporting: You will be tasked with completing incident and daily operating reports, documenting serious events, near misses, and hazards.
• Respond to Emergencies: Your role is to act quickly in emergency situations and assist hospital staff, patients and public as needed during crises and evacuations.

Our ideal candidate:

• Physical fitness to perform interior and exterior rounds (including stairs); may also require standing or sitting for extended periods of time
• Customer service experience with a clean, neat, uniformed appearance
• Strong communication, interpersonal and dispute resolution/de-escalation skills
• Keen observation skills with a proactive, problem-solving approach to tasks
• Completion of High school or equivalent

• Professional/Clinical communication skills
• Ability and aptitude to respond to emergency situations and physically aid in the evacuation of patients, public and staff
• Acquire all necessary security clearances
• Complete all online and in-person training requirements:
• • CSOC (Commissionaire Security Guard Online Course) & NVCI (Non-violent Crisis Intervention Course)
  • CPR/1st Aid Training
  • IAHSS (International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety Inc.)
  • All other post-deployment training as necessary

Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset but not a position requirement.
