High Risk Cancer Genomics Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner

Job Description:

This position is accountable for the provision of patient care and other activities as permitted by licensure and defined within Credentialing and Privileging documentation (hospital), Credentialing and Scope of Practice (Medical Group), Consultation and Referral Plan (DOPL), or other similar documentation. The incumbent delivers optimal patient care through effective clinical practice, educates the patient, patient's family, clinical staff, and others, consults with other healthcare providers, and maintains current knowledge regarding options for optimal patient care and outcomes.

About this role:

As a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in High-Risk Cancer Genomics, you will work with a team of healthcare professionals committed to providing quality care and excellent patient experience. In this role you will work remotely as a telehealth clinic APP provider caring for patients marked as high risk for developing cancer. This is a unique and cutting-edge preventive care model designed to keep high risk patients from receiving a cancer diagnosis and living full, healthy lives.

  • You will practice remotely from one of our enterprise’s approved locations (excludes residence in Hawaii, California, Rhode Island, and Washington)
  • You’ll enjoy a four-day work week, Tuesday – Friday from 8 am - 5 pm Mountain Time.
  • You and one other APP provider will see an average of 6-8 patients per day

About the clinical practice:

  • Conduct thorough virtual genetic cancer risk assessments of patients with a predisposition to cancer, including detailed family and medical histories.
  • Utilize risk assessment tools to stratify patients and develop personalized prevention and surveillance plans.
  • Provide pre-test counseling and ordering of genetic testing for hereditary cancer genes.
  • Interpret genetic test results and provide post-test counseling for common hereditary cancer germline variants.
  • Educate patients on lifestyle modifications, risk reduction strategies, and the importance of regular surveillance.

What you’ll bring:

  • APRN or PA-C degree from an accredited program
  • Candidates with CGRA certification preferred
  • Experience in preventative medicine, primary care, or oncology preferred
  • Active, unobstructed Utah medical license, or the ability to obtain one
  • Ability to successfully complete Intermountain Health’s credentialing process

Physical Requirements:

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.

Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.

Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy (e.g., frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation).

Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.

Walks and assists with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment (e.g., pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items). Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms full of equipment, with power cords on the floor.

May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$49.86 - $76.93
